if you could ride a moose you would not need a snow machine

See, if we had deployed mounties on moose, instead of on horseback, the world may take us a bit more seriously. But, On that note, when I was still in diapers my parents snapped a photo of one of our neighbours from a nearby farm who had spent a couple years feeding and saddle breaking a moose... which he rode up to the local pub for pictures too. Only in Canada right?

Man, I bet there was a rush for the Charmin when that thing came charging down the pathway.

I had a similar incident on a snowmobile when I was a kid. We were riding along a trail and this cow moose comes running out of the bushes, along side of me and it wasn't until I got out of shock and applied the brakes that she ran across my bow. I figured she was coming out of the bushes to cross at the exact same time we came ripping by.

No camera of course.

Years ago, a few pals and I were camping on a lake on the Idaho side of Blodgett pass in October when we saw a cow moose and her calf wading, non-chalantly, on the other side of the lake. We "oooooh"'d and "aaaahhh"'d a bit, but thought that would be the end of it. It was a full moon, and by the time the fire died away and we snuggled into our sleeping bags (it was well below 0 C), the lake was shining in the moonlight. We slept for a bit, but awoke with a start in the middle of the night to the sound of intense thrashing water. Our heads shot up and looked out at the lake to see our friend the cow moose, calf in tow, tearing through the water about 20 meters from our tent. Right on her heels was a massive bull moose, probably hoping for some lovin', bellowing his face off! Needless to say, our sleep was tentative for the rest of that night. The next night we heard wolves, but that's a different story.
