Default Advice on fishing around the guld islands

    Hey everybody,

Just looking for some advice. I'm "really new" to salt water flyfishing (read as never done it). I'm going on a little sailing trip through the gulf islands in a week. We'll be anchored a lot and was wondering if there's any chance of catching anything from shore or while puttering around in a row boat. Not really hoping for giant coho or anything. Just hoping that something will bite. Any point?

Any advice would be great. Thanks!

    Ben

Nothing wrong with dragging around a type 6 line, you never know. You could also fish the kelp beds as there are always large species taking cover. The trick is to find those long lost kelp beds. Try asking around the local tackle shops, might help if you spend a bit thereClick here to enlarge If the fishing doesnt work out, theres always crabs and prawns
