    Default Winter Springs...

    Hi everyone,

I'd like to try fishing for winter Spings in the "chuck" as you Canadians say, and i've never done it before. Was just looking for some basic points: tides, depths, flies, etc.

Not sure if i'm looking into a non-starter if the fish are too far off shore, too deep for flies or something but some guidance would be mucho appreciated!

    Thanks!

I'm not much of a fly fisherman, but i do know alot about fishing springs,

They are most active during an hour before through to an hour after- high tide.

I have seen people troll flies in about 60ft of water, at about 30ft with good resuts. they were using bucktails. however i have never seen anyone take a spring while casting, but im sure it can be done
