has anyone ever used owl feathers for fly tying? i know it sounds morbid but a barn owls been hit a few blocks from my house and i'm just wondering if i could possibly put it to good use and make something beautiful of it again, as opposed to letting it rot on the side of the road..
cheers

Any chance to get feathers from another bird should be jumped on. A year ago, my brother came across a dead perigrine falcon. I now have the skin. Haven't used it yet, but some beautiful feathers that will go into nymphs this summer.

I have picked up road killed birds from the okanagan to Fort st John, Hawks, flickers, grouse, red wing black birds, coots, pheasants, I have 5 or 6 in the freezer now from cars and house windows, always fun to try and use them in a pattern or try something new.
well i was planning on picking it up on my way home from work, its dark then and chances are no ones gonna see me and think i'm a freak! haha. looks like someone ran over part of it since yesterday, but one wing still looks good, so heres hopin. thanks a lot gentlemen! anyone catch any steelies this passed weekend?
Cheers
