Having just returned from Kitimat and lost a couple nice chinook practising long distance C & R, what type/size leader would you use for chinook? Specifically, fishing a 10/11 15 ft Pacific Bay Professional, on a low vis flow (12 to 18 inch vis), 10 to 15 feet of heavy sinking head in fast water. Just curious.
Thanks,
Sparky
Strip me, whip me, tie me, fly me.
Sink tip or sinking lines, single or double hand doesn't matter...I always use a short leader to keep the fly as close to the depth that my line is working. Usually a 2-3' butt section of 20# mono, and doulble surgeon knot another 2-3' of my tippet of choice. For salmon I usually use either 10# or 12# Maxima Ultra Green for tippet.
There's nothing sexier than a hook dressed in fur and feathers.
