Alright, here is the cheap recipe for a turner:

Get a Rotisserie Turner (battery or plug in)
piece of keystock from Princess Auto
Stick some styro on the end of the keystock

I put mine together for 10 bucks, it aint pretty but it works.

I will post a few pics tonight.

    Default dryer

I saw one on ebay last week that was made from a bbq rotisserie motor, he made a little stand and zap strapped it on, used part of the steel rod to turn a foam cylinder, I can't give any dimensions as the pics were not great. hope this helps.

I came across this link while doing some research on epoxy minnows (I got some mylar tubing from a friend and thought about trying it):

It looks relatively easy. The only thing I would do different is add an on/off switch between the motor and the AC/DC adapter. That would take out the requirement to use the orange wire-locks, as the wire connections would be inside the on/off switch.

Go on ebay, and do a search for rod drying motor. You will find lots of buy nows for $16 to $28. Very easy to adapt

I agree with the professor. Rod motors are an easy and cheap way to get going. One buddy of mine adapted a disco ball motor bought on ebay for like $5. Nice and slow rpms. Beautiful finishes.

Not much money though for a proper rod dryer with stand etc...

I was interrupted and signed off quickly on my last post. T adapt the rod dryer to an epoxy fly turner, I took a spindle from a stack of CD-R disks and wrapped the outter rim with self adhesive weather stripping and then put it into the chuck of the rod turner. I'll post a pic in a short time.

My old neighbor said he uses his old cell phone vibrate motor with a power adapter from The Source(radio shack).
I have yet to see it or get his parts list.
