Now that gives new meaning to the "Snap" T. Sorry to hear that... I hate that sound as much as anything.

Hi Lads,
Just looking at some of the posts regards non taping,I know for a fact that you should always tape your ferules carbon fibre is built to twist and spey casting rolls your rod you would be surprised how good you can get that extra bit of distance if you tape up and save your rod, think about it lads if you don't tape then the joints are going to move this is turns you lose power in your cast tape it and the carbon reacts to been suddendly been stopped and twists back and therefore catapults your line and make the perfect cast..I must admit I do forget from time to time but I run the risk of smashing my rod for sure..but then again I own a tackle Store..HA!.

Tape, i cant afford to have a section warrantied and retied, and then wait for it be shipped back to me.
Depends if I remember to take the tape,I do believe in using a candle on the ferrules, just rub the male portion with candle-wax.I definitely don't like having my ferrules stuck!

I always tape my bigger rods, i leave them set up and taped all season, i just use Vac-Rac's on the car to drive around the river, go for Lunch ect,and when i get home i have a rack in my garage i put them on, going fishing........ back on the Vac-Rac's and back to the river, tape once a year... and as soon as the waders are on..... i'm fishing.
After 13yrs on the Spey as a ghillie i have seen guys almost cry like a baby when there new rod slackens at a joint a wee bit and bang........ boo hoo.

Like many others I cant afford to lose my two hander as I dont have a backup, so it's pretty simple, its a four piece so I keep it assembled in two sections, very quick and easy to tape then, I was suprised when I found out how quickly a section can work it's way out of place, even when firmly assembled, and I nearly broke my rod on only my second time out, in short I learned my lesson the easy way

I do the same thing with both my two handers. I keep them together and only seperate the middle sections for travel or at home. the other sections have been waxed and taped so i dont bother to tape the center because it pretty easy to check the one section periodically.
You defintely need to adjust the tape after a couple trips as electricians tape will stretch a bit and lose its firm grip. I found this out on my own when my bottom section starting to spin a little bit not actually coming off
i had no idea you were supposed to tape ferules. i guess thats something i'll start doing. do i just do a single wrap of tape?
Taping and waxing is a very good thing..I would suggest even to tape you multi piece single handers if they are particularly fast..saves a lot of BS

I've read that run of the mill paraffin wax isn't ideal due to surface buildup and because it collects dirt etc.
Any suggested alternatives?
