Default Simple flies that catch trout.

I was wondering if any of you guys have any really simple patterns that you catch fish with. I have several patterns that I use quite often that are really simple and fast to tie up. I find that these simple flies, in various colors and sizes often out produce more complicated patterns.

Thought I would post some pics of some of them:

simple caddis dry fly.jpg simple caddis: dubbed body, deer hair wing
simple dry fly.jpg simple dry: hackle fibre tail, dubbed body, hackle collar
simple soft hackle.jpg simple soft hackle: dubbed body, hen hackle collar
simple wet fly.jpg simple wet: hackle fibre tail, wire rib, dubbed body, hackle collar

I would be very interested in seeing any of your guys' simple fly patterns.

I really like soft hackles. Super easy to tie but yet they are super buggy and catch fish. I've had very good days on the skagit swinging soft hackles. I even fish them as emergers by putting floatant on half my leader.

You are so right Bead Head, they are super easy to tie and super effective as well.
I am going to make more of an effort this year to spend more time swinging soft hackle flies.
I like the idea of fishing them as emergers with floatant, thanks for the tip.

    Tom Thumb / Humphy

    Wooly Bugger

    Muddler Minnow

I could fish those all day for nearly all the fish I chase.

52 Buick is my dad's fav for lakes.

Soft hackles are sweet too! Especially for the elegant simplicity combined with fish catching prowess.

I hear that. Love how they look.

Probably one of my top flys as well. I have every colour you could imagine of mohair leeches. My favourite way to fish them is under an indicator dead still, giving a little strip every now and then. The trout Hammer it! They mite think its a quick and easy meal.

I probably catch 75% of my fish on one of those, I think you know which one. You forgot the Doc Spratley and Tom Thumb for in the lagoon.
