I think most of the money goes to those that own the water over there...

Is it not mandatory to fish with guide on the Dean?

    EDIT: removed OT

NRAs can fish the upper Dean unguided by entering the draw in March.

It's all relative I guess. It was expensive for an out of province angler compared to a resident is all I was saying.. I certainly am not complaining in any way, I fish all year round for a very modest price and am happy to buy my steelhead and salmon tags yearly.

I used to live by the Spey in the 70's. Back then a particular single bank 5 rod beat on the Spey went for £1200 per rod per week in the high season. You can double that to get the Canadian dollars of the day. What most Canadians don't realise is that ALL the water over there is owned by somebody.

Here are some interesting numbers. (And yes I actually looked this up even though I should have been doing something more productive)
British Columbia's total area of land is 925,186 km2
England and Scotland's total area of land combined is 208,782 km2!!!!!
And when they out populate B.C. 15 to 1, no wonder every little piece of land is owned by someone!
It makes me glad and thankful to live somewhere that if I wanted to I could go buy a piece of land next to a nice river and fish it the rest of my life!
