I am sure someone here will send you a pm with some tips, but you might also want to check out the backroads mapbook. There is some good info in there!

There are limited fishing opportunities around Victoria. We do get sea run cutties in the lagoons in summer from Victoria, Esquimalt all the way out to Sooke Harbour. Also up the Saanich side towards Sydney has summer beach fishing. Much of it is seeing the fish before spending the day flailing your arms off.

The Sooke river has a few resident trout that can be targeted though out the system but it is tough going above the falls and that pretty much goes for the west side rivers up to Port Renfrew. Many people fish the lower part of Sooke around the fairgrounds in the fall for spawning salmon. Demamiel Creek does have some fish but there is so much urban pressure I stay away from it. Never target steelhead here as once again they are under so much pressure.

But most us head north either to the Cow or San Juan or push further up Island for steelies or salmon. Hope this helps.

And the crowd goes silent. LOL

I'm not sure if there is a more closely guarded fishing secret than that of a beach location for Searun Cutthroat. LOL

Keep an eye on the esquimalt lagoon and you might be surprised...
It would be a shame to learn every fish's secret, and yet lose the joy of simply fishing
