Post Marl Lakes in the Interior

Hey im from Calgary Alberta and New to this forum I heard British Colombia`s interior has some big fish and in the central regions too but thats too far of a drive for me. So im wondering if there is any marl lakes that would be small enough for belly boats but not too far into BC. Also any special patterns, videos or threads that could help me out would be awesome too. Thanks for your contributions i will be sure to share mine when i make the trip out!

Brown bear, if you are truly looking for marl, the nearest ones to you are most likely those lakes in the Vernon/Kamloops area. There are quite a few good smaller lakes in the Cranbrook area, but these are generally deeper lakes with fewer marl flats than you will find in the interior. Alpine lakes are a different animal.

    Brownbear,
Check out Suffern Lake Regional Park in Saskatchewan. It's one of my favourites and gets almost no fishing pressure. Rainbows to 10 lbs. and brookies to 6lbs. Beautiful marl shoals but you have to be very stealthy and chuck the right stuff or all you see is a puff of marl. Fishing marl in the spring is not easy to find success at. Can be very humbling until you tweak your game a little.

Another favourite is in the hills above Tunkwa at 4800' but that one usually doesn't find it's way to the Internet.

Whitetail lake is also an option. I have had good success on leech, damsels ,and mayfly patterns on the marls. "Sport fishing on the fly" did an episode a while back that is worth taking a look at as well.

Look on Google Earth for any water that is blue and white. It's pretty clear from space which lakes have white marl shoals.
