New to Nanaimo..

Hello All. Not completely new to Nanaimo but finally settling in. I haven't done any fishing on the Island in 10 years but I am going to start as soon as this rain stops... and yes I realize that my be August.

I grew up in the interior and fished the Merrit/Kelowna/Kamloops triangle for 20 years then moved to the Central Coast and fish there for another 10 or so. I have taken a bit of a hiatus from fishing but now that the kids can hold a rod and wont add extra holes to me I am going to start again. I miss stillwater fishing so that is where I am going to start but I am sure the rivers will be calling me soon.

Any help or direction is very much appreciated. Cheers.

Welcome Islandnewb...a great place to live and fish...not much Ice fishing here but then again we don´t have 20 lb Gerards either

hey welcome to the site and island. i live in victoria i just srarted fly fishing. if you want a fishing buddy? im free most weekends and love to fish. havent fished much on the middle or upper island but im good for company and stories if you wanted.

welcome islandnewb, im also here in Nanaimo but unfortunatly my daughter cannot yet swing a rod(3 in May). However I do get out a fair bit when im on night shift and Mondays while on the saturday shifts. If your lookin for someone,Pm me. If you need some hotspot advise for stillwater, Pm me. Salar. I'm not an ice fishermen so its definitely not something I'll miss. What I'm really excited about is being able to fish lakes, rivers and oceans 12 months of the year. Got to love the Island for that.

Sadam I will pm you if I am heading out or fishing your way for sure. I have a 12' jon boat and electric, a 10.5' raft with frame (good for class 3 maybe 4 in a pinch), a small pontoon boat and a belly boat. Unfortunately I left my drift boat up north and dont know when I will pick it up. So I figure I am good to go where ever. Been looking at a few of the lakes between me and you and we should check them out.

Coastrider. Expect a pm soon and often. I am definitely looking for places to go and people to fish with. I figure I shouldnt expect the size of the interior but I have seen some pictures of some nice trout from the island. I was going to go out this morning but the wind is blowing bloody hell so me and the kids are going to wait. PM'ing you now with a couple specific questions.
