    Default Cowichan Lake Browns?

Howdy all, I'm going to be fishing Cowichan Lake this summer quite a bit, but haver never fished it befor. I want to target some browns, but have never fished for them befor. I've done some research, and it sounds like baitfish and other larger wet patterns are popular. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with browns on Cowichan Lake. I was thinking Kokanee, brown, and rainbow imitations; double bunny, bucktails, muddlers? I figure with this weather, its a good time to restock. Also came across a lot if info that says dusk, nighttime and early morning pre-sunrise being most productive (nighttime being the best). Any tips and storys welcome.

    Cheers.

I haven't caught them in the lake on the fly, only deep water trolling plugs and baitrix type stuff. But if I had to bet, dust and into the night would be your best bet, fishing the shoals around creek mouths, or with a sinking line on some of the dropoffs. I'd say minnow presentations and leeches would be your best bet, bigger being better, same with your rod, 6-8 wt because there are some PIGS out there, and if your fishing big flies, you wont have to fight to many little rainbows or cutties.
Why do I spend more time tying flies than catching fish?

I haven't personally, but like you I have heard it mentioned from time to time. Lots and lots of creeks all over the place so there should be lots of places to check out.

yeah have been studying all of the charts i could find. tons of little inflows. on a seperate note, i am hoping to get into some kokanee. I have some pink shrimp and leech patterns that have worked for me in the past in other lakes, any suggestions for this big lake?
