Default Right place at right time

Typically, Steelhead cruise in the top 4-5 feet of water in the Ocean, making them less likely to be caught by down riggers and trollers...I have landed 2 Steelhead in Salt Water; One a bruiser 15+ lbs in the Alberni Inlet in Mid June 2000. This fish was entering the Somass/Stamp River system with the Sockeye and I hooked it on a large Cherise Intruder pattern. The second was off the Beach near the Big Qualicum River in September of 2003....mixed in with the Chum Salmon..about 4 lbs.
Lost several in the estuary of the Zebellos River as well.
Patches, how big do you want the flies?

Default im going to try this season

i would like a mix a few in the 2- 3 inch and a few in the 3-5 inch .. that would be killer. scotty made fun at first....then the intruder proved it self ....thats sweet a few fish in the chuck. i think it depends on the mouth of the river weather they come into a bay and long estuary were they might stage , or the river rages out to sea , in witch case then on a close beach you mite find them hanging , waiting for the smell of a rising river ...Im going to try this winter out front Lang.our salmon tend to come in and hang out in the inner bay before entering and so do the sea runs , so i don't see why a steely would not eh! i catch fish in the low end that have some pink and look like they have been smelling fresh water for a while ,so ya ,could be this season?

some one elts?even estuary fish? what about story's of fish that have sea lice or were soooo...fresh ...but.. they were hit very far from the chuck ? i think of the fish i hit on the white, miles from the salt with calcium rays on its tail still.or the early fish on the gold.. the old dec. run thats almost gone .they used to shoot through to the muchy over night it seemed . so fast you would swear it just left the sea.miles in hrs. pure power !
