Good Skagit rods are typically more through action rods,..think back to when the Skagit casting techniques were actually thought about from needs of spey casters in these parts and you see that the rods of the day were softer action rods normally. Ironically these are great rods but are much too heavy compared to the great Skagit rods of today..like the Beulah Platinum rods,Vision Cult rods, CND Specialist .,and others.
Some of the european rods with softer tip actions also can be great Skagit rods..faster action rods will do the job but take a bit more getting used to and don't react well to many of the casts. I have an old 15'Lamiglas rod that always makes me smile with the feel..it is like a delayed reaction to every stroke ..but is way to heavy to be waving around all day..
Likely the best and most smooth(if that word exists in this context) Skagit rods IMO are the Platinum Beulah,Vision Cult,Meiser, some of the CND rods, and Anderson
