Default New Member Intro - Vancouver BC

    Hello all,

I am new to fishing forums in general, hopefully my 30 years of fly fishing experience will prove useful to some of you. I tie my own flies and have developed my own patterns. I have fly fished all over the world, and decided to settle in BC 15 years ago, mostly for the fishing!

I have fished many of the wonderful lakes and rivers BC has to offer, for Rainbow trout, Five species of Salmon, Steelhead, Sea-run Cutthroat, Coastal Cutthroat and Westslope cutthroat, Sea run Dolly Varden, Bull trout, as well as Smallmouth Bass on Southern Vancouver Island.

My addiction has evolved into a saltwater affair as well, plying the beaches and estuaries by foot or from a kayak. My experiences include walking the beaches around Victoria/Sydney waterfronts and estuaries, eastern Vancouver Island beaches and estuaries such as the Oyster River, Big/Little Qualicum, Nile creek, as far north as the Cluxuwe. I love fishing by kayak and have visited some spectacular places such as Nitinat Lake (near the gap), kelp beds of the Broken Island Group, Deer Group, beaches near Meares and Vargas islands near Tofino, the list goes on and on.

I have also spent many days fishing Southern Ontario in my youth, there are (surprisingly) still some places left there that are majestic and secluded, if there is anyone traveling there I will try my best to help you find some trophy smallmouth waters, rainbow, BIG brown trout, pike, largemouth, even walleye (yes - walleye on the fly!!!)

    Have a great day!

Welcome to the forum AAA. There are pleanty of avid sea run fishermen on this site. I haven't done any estuary fishing, except for when the pinks were around the lower mainland. It's on my list, I just don't have the time to add it into the many other things I'm trying to focus on fishing wise.
