Welcome to the forum.

Hi and Happy New Year to All,
I guess joining this Forum will be the last significant thing I do in 2011. I'm retired and now have time to do a lot more things on my wish list. I joined the Kamloops Flyfishers Club a year ago and am enjoying that. I fish with my son and my friends sometimes and take my 5 year-old grandson when I can. However, I still usually fish alone.
Its ice-fishing time in the Interior. I ice-fish mostly with my 82 year-old Uncle. I prefer and generally use flies through the ice, but I realize that whether this could be called fly-fishing is a matter of opinion. My good friend suggests that its really not much different than indicator fishing when you think about it. In any case, I do enjoy the challenge of creating and presenting a fly that causes those fussy larger brookies to key on and actually chomp down on long enough for a hook-set. I'm interested in a lot of different facets of fly-fishing including hatch recognition, feeding times, leeches, fly-tying and materials, deep-water chironomids (and leeches), and so-on and on. I find the more I learn about something, the more confounded I sometimes become. Solunar tables for example: just when I think I have a feed time predicted, it often seems to go awry. Other times, without prediction, I've found myself suddenly in the middle of a trout feeding frenzy. Go figure. I guess its the constant challenge that intrigues and keeps me going back to the lakes.
Hope to talk to some of you soon,
Cheers and tight lines in 2012,
Syd
Welcome to the forum.
Hey Syd,
Welcome to the forum. It's nice to see that we are getting more and more active members on the site who are living in the interior of the province. We have a lot of people from the Island, Sunshine Coast, Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. It'll be great to get some perspective from the interior.

Hey Syd,
Welcome to the board. Having lived at Tunkwa Lake from 99-'08 I miss the Southern Interior. Many friends and fishing buds in Kamloops and several "off the grid" lakes I dearly miss!
Hello Syd and welcome to the site.
Here is hoping I have more time to contribute this year.
I am just down the street in Merritt.
