    Question harkley & haywood hooks

I have some packages of fly hooks from an old store in Vancouver Harkley & Haywood and would like to know who manufactured the hooks. They are in white plain folded paper with the hooks enclosed in wax paper inside. Anyone out there know who the manufacturer was and what years they might be from. Thanks

When I worked downtown in Vancouver. I bought out two apple boxes full of hooks from their fly tying section. It was a room about 10x15' full of hooks....got them all for $50 back then, and still using them today. If I recall correctly the fellow told me all their hooks were from Mustad. Hope that helps.

Thank you and do you remember what year that was , roughly. Were they in white paper or in packs/boxes.

Oh man....that's going back many years. I am only guessing here, but I think I had only been on the job a couple of years, so I am going to say early 1980's. The hooks came in boxes that I bought and the hooks were wrapped in paper inside the boxes.

I bought some wrapped the same way from Rumbles on 12th St. in New Westminster around 1965. There was no manufacturer's name on the packet but the store carried mainly Mustad hooks.

I'd also bet on Mustad as the white box/paper wrap was their 'standard' packaging (by the 100) at the time. Very easy for them to print up a 'custom label' for the box.
