Do you use just a little when you tie? When I tie with it I always wonder if I tie too much in, will it spook the fish or make them suspicious enough not to hit the fly.

That's the same thing I did before I ask you here.I couldn't find it searching on any of the places you visit. I'll come across it sometime when I least expect it. Thanks for looking, appreciate your time spent.

You don't need alot. ie. chironomid, just a rib, leech 2 to 4 strands, mayfly nymph rib,I have tied a micro leech using uv micro chenille for the body works great early before 11 am and after 8 pm. experiment the stuff works, in moderation
I do not use it on all my patterns.
I see. I have been tying it mostly on my soon to be used Steelhead patterns, and in my salmon patterns from earlier this year. I'll have to give a bit of it a try in some leaches, chironomids, and some nymphs. But I can see what you mean, I don't see myself adding any to my dry flies, and some of the more classic patterns that I like to keep traditional.

Chances are most tyers have been reaping the benefits of UV in their patterns without even knowing it. There is reflective UV which encompasses flashabous, polar chenilles, etc. and reactive UV which includes most bright colours and fluorescents. If you have a UV light, try shining it on hot pink thread for example and see what happens!
Actually I have used it as a rib on emergers for low light also works well, and on some not all caddis patterns
I tied up a handful of parachute adams this past summer with Grey UV Ice Dub. They were an excellent pattern, hooking cutts that weere turniong and rejecting standard-tied para Adams. Not enough to make it my go-to, but the UV didn't seem to bother the fish at all.
