I would hit the Oyster for cutties right now...small egg patterns will work, as they follow the spawning coho up.Also, don't overlook the beach at Willow Point (Larwood) for searuns...last 2 hrs of a rising tide is best...Thanks so much btree! that was very helpful! i guess i gotta get tying! Is there any point trying for cutties with all the chum and the odd coho in the river right now? theres so many chum that i have a hard time not snagging them. when is the best time for cutties and or Steelies?
Drop in to the Campbell River Flyfishers club, at the Fish and Wildlife club building, Thurs nights 7 - 9pm. Easy-going and lots of good advice.
Good questions VanIsl Flyfisher, and and an intelligent choice to come to this forum for information. If you don't ask questions, you rarely get answers. While I laud your ambition and desire, I would suggest patience in your quest. There is so much to learn that if one doesn't slow down and absorb the crumbs, they will never savor the cake. In other words we miss a great deal. If you don't have one already, it might be a good idea to find some who can mentor you one on one. It helps to speed things up when we learn how to do things the right way from the start instead of having to correct bad habits. Keep asking questions and happy fishing, be safe.
