Default storing tinsel, crystal hair, flash......

Anyone have a special way to store your tinsel, flashabou, etc;?

A drop or two of head cement in the middle (at the staple or zap-strap)?
snip the corners of the cardboard and re-insert it into its package.?

just trying to figure out a better way.

It's ok when it's a fresh pack but it just tends to get messy after a while.

I have a big pegboard at my tying desk. All the flash hangs on a 4" (or 2 or 3 of them) hanger. I leave it in the package, but slit it up the side so that I can cut out a pinch or two as needed. The packages all hang from the same hole they did in the store, nice and secure.

I just keep mine in the packages that it came in and take out what I need as I need it. Some people have tinsel trees and hang all their glitter on there, some people use plastic tubes and as already mentioned some use pegboards. I guess it's just a matter of how much space do you have and finding something that works for you.

Best I've seen is with 8" foodsaver bag rolls. Just Make a heatseal every 1 1/2" width for as many types of tinsel/krystalflash as you want. Cut off the side crease, slide each one in, then roll it up and store it in your fly tying kit. Takes up almost no room, and is always with you.

    Here's a pic of mine....and make that the 11" roll, not 8".
Also, a nylon zap-tie makes it easier to probe the tinsel in or out of the pocket.

Ok Herk, I made an attempt at this without success. How did you get the middle dividers to seal? My vaccum sealer won't engage unless it senses the bag being slid through the opening, and automatically starts to pump. Its a newer one (bought last year). I tried rotating the top half of the unit back to open it up and placing the bag inside with the goal of sealing multiple times as I pulled it out, but no luck. It heats up, but the pressure arm doesn't come down on the heat strip to seal.

Anyone else experienced this? Anyone tried the edge of an old iron or something like that?

I don't know what kind of sealer you have. Mine is a Foodsaver Gamesaver Plus, where the roll is stored inside. I just pull the roll out and hit the seal switch every 1 1/2", then use the cutter when I have enough pockets.
