Nice job, congrats, I don't get to go this year do to other commitments, there will all ways be next year. Enjoy.![]()

It's 4 years since I moved to Alberta and that long since I've hunted moose and I finally got a draw this year. A couple days of scouting provided all the info I needed.
Day One: Was pleasantly surprised to awake to temps of +1C and off I went. It was fairly obvious that the moose were already rutting as my first cow call received responses from 3 different bulls but they weren't showing themselves.
Day Two: NOT impressed as I awoke to temps of +13C and the hunting was dismal and uneventful
Day Three: Cool morning again and at dawn the cow moose started calling but too far off to be of interest.
Day Four: After a torrential downpour during the night everything was late this morning except for me. Sitting in my chair well situated behind a blowdown I heard a branch snap and suspected a moose moving in the bush just off the cutblock. It was 10:05 when I let out a sultry cow call and at 10:10 the bull walked out onto the cutblock 60 yds. in front of me where, with a well placed shot, he was dispatched quickly without running a step!
He had a 35" spread, estimated his age at 3 and his horns were well rubbed down. Enjoy:

What a nice bull, pretty jealous of all that moose steak. Congrats!
Why do I spend more time tying flies than catching fish?
Great looking Moose and alot of great eating. My son inlay harvested one in Alberta last year which was one of the best tasting moose that I have ever had!!!
