    I think I have similar feelings towards one of my rods as well...

    My two hander has done well for steelies this year, but 5+ years of drought has aflicted my single hander in the steelhead department. Finally managed to hook the biggest steelie I've ever seen in the flesh, but promptly lost it once I got a good look at the beast, on a dry fly to boot! So perhaps it's one step closer, but it's also another step in the direction of torment and frustration.

    That being said, I can't complain about the performance of said single hander in the salmon department. It's managed to boat or beach all but the elusive sockeye with aplomb. Still looking for a tyee but I've been more than content with the coho these days, and it more than tamed a chum or two last fall.

    Funny thing rods, hats, etc. I think it has a lot to with confidence...

    Confidence is what bites us in the BUM...lose you confidence aand all heck breaks loose,as a Steelehad fisher I know it is certainly the little things that make all the difference at success..C
