You can't go wrong with a Bob Meiser rod. He will talk to you and set you up with the right outfit for what you want to do with the rod. He also will custom build a line that is right for the rod.

I'm interested in building a spey rod, for chucking skagit heads with heavy tips. I've been checking out rainshadow 14' 9 wt blanks,
and am wondering if any members have any comments re: this blank, or suggestions on blanks somewhere in the same range.
I've built a Rainshadow RX7 10' 8wt singlehand, which I'm very happy with.
(I would love to go with a higher end blank, but I want to stay married as I love my house......)

I am considering building a meiser rod in the next year or so. I have heard nothing but good things about his rods.
I have not heard anything about rainshadow two handed blanks, I will be interested in anything you find out. Good luck!
i just finished my 8 wt rainshadow switch not to long ago and had a FFF guy try it and look at it he was amazed by quality of the blank
If you are looking for a little slower rod I had a friend build me a 12 1/2 ft. 7/8 Rainshadow on the Rx6 blank and what a beauty to fish with. I've been fishing it for for two seasons now and have put it through the paces from being banged around in the tree branches ,dropped on the rocks, hung up on bottom and plays fish like a dream. I've tried many various lines and reel makes and it balances well with the Hardy Marquis #1 and the Rio Flight 450gr.and I have had no issues throwing 12ft of T14 or chucking 8ft. of T8. This may not be the blank you are looking for but it does give a bit of a look at the quality of their blank. Very good product for the price. The fellow that built me the rod does beautiful work and has built I don't know how many rods on Rainshadow blanks of the Rx6 and Rx7 models over his many building years and No blank failures. Hope this helps a bit. Take Care.
I just received an 11'6" 6/7wt RX6 Batson blank and measured it using CCS:
ERN: 10.16
AA: 68
Which puts is as a fairly powerful 7wt spey blank with med-fast to fast action. I can't compare it to the Rainshadow blanks.
Thanks guys. I've yet to hear any negatives on the Rainshadow blanks, so that's probably the direction I'll go. I received a response from a supplier that Rainshadow has discontinued the 14' 9 wt blank, but they can still get me one for $100, plus $24 shipping.
