Default #1 saltwater fly fishing species

I love fly fishing but never fly fished in saltwater. What are the main species people fly fish for in saltwater?

Around this time of year from the beaches its the pink salmon, and later on it will be coho and in a few areas spring. I know many people who take therye boats out and fly fish for coho in deep water, and if you have a boat you can fish for rock bass, and lingcod at certain times during the year, just be sure to check the regs and look out for RFCA's. Lots of opportunities to fish for almost anything in the salt, once the salmon run is over, you can even catch small halibut in shallow as they gorge on salmon bits that get washed down the rivers.

its always a hoot went your casting your big 8 weight for pinks and a bloody 5 inch sculpin takes ur fly. that happened to tbar and I on the beach. we got tricked!!!

id have to say my favourite saltwater species would be chinook. as it would be the most exciting but ive only ever landed searuns on the chuck so far. so hard to say.

Biggest coho i had spooled me on my 7wt while fishing for pinks, had to snap him off, cause i couldnt remember what knot i used for my backing to arbour connection hahaha. And i find the bullheads help me anyways, let me know how my retrieve is and that I better change my retrieve speed or the only thing im going to hook into is the island, same thing with flouder, only diffrence being is that I've eaten the bigger ones, never had the stomach for a bullhead tho.

First coho I hooked on my 8 wt broke blood vessels in my index/middle fingers as I tried to palm the reel...(think: trying to fly a kite in a hurricane) fingers swelled up to twice the size....told people it was my fortunate dilemma...can't wait to do it again...
