Nice one Salar, must have been a blast on the top water, it's so exciting seeing them thrash on the surface!

For the best shot at Sea Run fish knowing the tides and where structure is can make all the differnece. The other night I slipped down to the beach near Nile Creek ,tides were good and weather co-operating...I haven't seen that many large Cutties in a long time...these fish were smashing small schools of Salmon fry ...and the seals were following along..
AS I approached the water Dry Fly came to mind, for the past few years Dry Flies have been my fav' for this fishery, especially trying to find fish...This fish took a #6 Turks Tarantulla,a fly designed for Cutties...another good fly is the California Blond with a parachute, and large Stimulators...What I really like about this ,like the other night,if you don't see fish, cast a big Dry out and see where the fish are ,they soon show themselves with major shark like wakes!

Oh you lucky man C.
Well, C got me on the searun hunt and after an unproductive day at Englishman estuary I headed up to Nile beach today for hi tide @ 9:45am. The winds were driving and my hopes were low as i gazed upon my Amundson fly beater. Seeing as i drove near an hour I didnt want to visit C without a fishing story. Out came the Snowbee xd lined amundson and I proceded to hammer it into the wind with amazing results. That line is amazing!! Casting over my left shoulder about 1 ft off the water seemed to give me the best chance against the wind as I managed a good 40ft cast. About 12 casts in and whamo, my first searun cuttie! It was approx. 20 inches and fat as can be, I assume it was around 3 pounds minimun. Sorry, no pictures as we broke both of our camera is Disneyland. Next time im gonna bring a waterproof disposable til i can afford a digital waterproof. All in all, a great day and 2 fish to my feet makes me happy. Oh, they loved my green seal bugger.

Great post. How are your stripping you Turks Tarantulla? Short quick little strips non stop or long strips with pauses or somewhere in between?
