This might be so elementary that I will sound like a complete doofus, but this past week I had an epiphany regarding tying dry flies with dubbed bodies. For several years I have used dubbing wax on my fingers when initially putting dubbing on my tying thread prior to spinning a dubbing loop. Last week, when I was tying up some comparaduns, I inadvertantly opened a container of paste-style fly floatant instead of dubbing wax. I thought, "Why not?". Well it worked great as a dubbing wax substitute, and better yet, when I used the flies on Sunday, I had the best floating comparaduns I have ever fished.
Anyone else have any tips or tricks that you have "discovered" over the years??

Funny how you can discover things sometimes. A great idea!I'll give it a go.
