I would really like to go and fish those islands some day. When I do go I think I will take my Dad, as he has taken to so many great places over the years.

Wild waters,if you are willing to get a bit wet and hit the pinacles you are greatly rewarded...Ling,Bass.Yellow Eye,of course maybe Salmon and a miriad of other rock fish. We will go back in July to really target these fish...

Probably some sort of extremely high density sinking line, perhaps even a Hi-D shooting head with mono running line? But I think for those black bass, you don't need to get so deep. I've caught similar looking fish around kelp beds from shore before using a black and white clouser on a regular 10' sink tip. That one at the top looks to be decent size though - a lot bigger than the pan fry I caught up near cape scott a couple years ago now. It was a literal pan fry, very nice with just salt and pepper

Hi Coastrider...Beulah Blue Water rod 8/9 with the Snowbee CountDown 7,worked like a charm...this is the same set-up I use in the Tropics for deep water fishing,Baracuda, Spanish Mackeral and of course those crazy King Mackeral. We had to bring the Black Bass up from the Bottom,Once they were up they were crazy...unfortunately we couldn't anchor up because of tides and high winds so we only had a few shots at them...Next month off Esperenza we will do the same thing if all goes well....
9/9 will be here late next week finally...
