more 9.6 horse viking motor issues

Well some more issues Just to recap: When i first bought the motor off a guy i was having issues with it not wanting to get up and go. It would troll around but thats it. and it wouldnt idle low either. So i cleaned the carb atleast i think its cleaned enough and i changed the plugs. Took it out to the lake and it started first pull woohoo. It gets up and goes great but now my issue that im having every time i try and troll slow it wants to die. It does this surging sorta thing every like 10 seconds. I dont know much about enigines So What could be causing this? Any info is greatly apreciated thank you.

Been there and gone thru the whole self help thing. Best advise is to take it to a College Small Engine marine class and they usually only charge you the parts and no labour. You never get it back until it purrs

the only problem with taking it to a classroom is that it may take a fair while to get it back.

It sounds like it is starved for fuel at idle, try opening up the low speed needle 1/2 a turn at a time.
