Went to Browne Lake last night for I think the first time ever in August. Took my brother (non-fly fisher) and our two sons for a little fly trolling in the boat. Arrived at 7:00, fished until dark (9:00). I assumed it would be slow given the hot weather of late however it was anything but. Fish were taking on the surface everywhere. Large Chironies were coming off and medium cinamon sedges were dapping the surface here and there. Lots of strong feeding on both. We dragged around a foam backed brown and green caddis on one rod and a CDC chironomid emerger on the other and had pretty consistent action. Between the two boys missing strikes and losing fish there was no worry of cleaning out the lake however they had a blast. All in all a nice surprise for myself for this time of year in this heat.
