    Post Scotch

OK, I tried this before on the old site and/or BCFR. . . scotch and tying/fishing just seem to go hand and hand for me. Anyway, always looking for a new single malt, I ask you: (1) what's your alltime favorite scotch; (2) what's the best scotch for the dollar right now? Look forward to some replies.

Incidentally, my current answers (ever evolving) are: (1) 14 year Scapa (2005- $59) (2) 10 year Tamdhu (current-$39.95). Before Speyghillie hammers me on this: I'm referring to easily accessible scotch (here in Kelowna at least), and I personally have a light touch on the scotch and prefer a lighter, amber, smooth scotch (. . . and late night walks on the beach- had to put that in before someone else did).

    BTW Speyghillie, let's talk rods!

Two very smooth, lighter ambers are 10 year Aberlour ($41 approx) and Longmorn (about $56).

    Default Scotch

    Hi Guy's,
First of all i have to confess that i have still got a couple of bottles of the old stuff in Vernon (not available in Canada), the bad news is i will be over in September and i fear they maybe gone by the time i leave.
Can't really make my mind up on which one, well it's not my fault got sixteen distilleries on my doorstep.
There is a wee shop in Grantown on Spey that sends whisky all over the place, its called the wee dram, have a look and see what they can do, almost any one you like, (get it posted as gift).
Sparky i will be over with some new toys in September, going to the CLA where all the companies show there new Spey toys, will bring a suitcase full of goodies, lets get some guy's together for a day, i'll bring the whisky .
    Cheers Gordon.

I need to try the Tandhu. I have been enjoying Glen Morangie, a nice single malt, but the price has been climbing.

You are right, somehow sitting at the vise with a glass of scotch is just "plain right".

The other statement that might get things going, is what scotch do you serve to someone who wants ice in it? Would you serve your good scotch or hide a bottle of Bells in the cupboard?

I'll second the Longmorn. Thanks for that one Proff!

There is never good scotch in an unopened bottle.

Another vote for Longmorn. I could only find a 15 year in our local shop, but at $62 I though that wasn't a bad price for a very nice amber. Thanks Prof.
