Default Line Matches For 6wt Amundson Wind Warrior Switch

    Hi!
Picked up one of these rods in the summer and have mainly used it overhead casting with an 8wt Rio Versitip for Coho on the shore in Tofino. Would like to get some line/s for spey casting, would be great to get some info from someone who owns one. My plan is to use this rod to swing flies for Summers and perhaps some beach casting to get a bit more distance for the Coho holding further out so not looking at throwing heavy tips or big flys.
    Many Thanks,
    Nick

Look at getting a skandinavian style line! Should shoot well into wind off the beach, and does well in tight spots on the river when chasing steel, especially if you are not tossing massive flies.

I used to own that rod and I had it lined up with a Rio AFS scandi head in 5/6(340 grain) and an airflo skagit compact in 420 grain. With these two heads and running line I was set up for evertything from swinging dries and small wets to larger flies and heavier sink tips. I would suggest trying different weights of heads though, as what works for me may not work for you. I also tried a friends AFS 400 grain and it casted ok as well. The AFS heads go great with 10' poly leaders on that rod.
    Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks guys, having done a bit more research that Rio AFS Scandi or the Beluah Elixir 6/7 look like they might do the job. Then some lessons!!

Thanks again for the info, went with a 6/7 Rio switch line in the end. Have just been teaching myself watching those Eumer tubefly videos on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/user/eumertubefly ). Have got the Single and Double Spey, Snap T (thanks Richard who helped me out at the Stave if you are reading this) and Perry Poke half arse figured out and can get it out fishable casts of around 70 - 80', was a bit tricky at first and I can see how it might be more forgiving to learn on a longer rod. The line works good single and double hand spey casting small flows with only a bit of head out a poly leader and casts really nice with the whole head out also, was tough getting it to turn over the heaviest Rio poly leader and a smallish weighted Steelhead leech but am getting the hang of it now a bit.
The line is really supple and nice for stripping and am looking forward using it for Coho and trying for Summers with the clear floater and intermediate. Haven't really tried to overhead cast with it on the beach yet so will let you know how I get on, it kind of feels a bit heavy for the rod overhead. Will hopefully be putting it to the test on the Island this weekend on some oversized cutties, or more likely just spending a day enjoying the process.
    Cheers,
    Nick

Right on. Those Rio switch lines are wicked. I have the 4/5 lined on a 4wt Echo Switch and absolutely love it.
