that is a great find, is it a pre-war or a post war version

So I was over visiting my folks on Vancouver Island and finally convinced my old man to go out a buy a rod and reel. Later that evening we went up into the hills around Mt. Washington and did some fishing. Lots of callabaetis coming off and after tying on a nymph pattern we were into them, breaking in Dad's new rod and reel.
The following day when we were packing up to leave the old man walks out of his shop and says to me, "Haha, now there's an old fly reel. This was your Grandfather's".
That's when he hands me a Hardy Brothers "Perfect" 3 3/8 reel. I turned it over and read the inscription on the reel and nearly soiled myself.
The drag screw could be in better condition as I think it's partially stripped but other than that the reel works great and turns as smooth as ever.
What a find.

That sounds like an incredable find. I was lucky enough to recive for my birthday this year a craved cherry wood regestered Hardey Fly rod which belonged to my great great grandfather, My grandfather is atiment about me actually using it but i just cant bring myself to do it, I think a nice wall mount case is as close to fishing as it will get. always nice to see the history of the sport.
