Bob Clay - what can you say!

Love the bamboo spey rod! Great caster too - makes it look way way way too easy!

What sort of rod is that any way? I imagine it's a custom rod, seems like a super cool way to fish though, but I'd go with a tan coloured line rather than a fluro-green one

Does any one know about going about building a bamboo spey rod? I'm not sure I want to go through the pain-staking process of splitting bamboo, but wouldn't mind considering buying a blank at some point in the future.

    btree,

I saw a show on WFN recently - I think it was called Colorado cane. Looked at the bamboo rod industry, and a few makers. Looked really cool, and very hard. There was actually a really young kid about 16 that makes them, and is really good at it. Maybe you could find the show somewhere on the interweb.....

Cool, I'll have to look for it.

I doubt I'll be making any bamboo rods in the next decade or so...or until I buy a house with a shop that I can dedicate to the process of rod building. So many things to fabricate or aquire to build a bamboo rod, and I'm guessing that a 12" blank of high quality is way out of my price range, or fishing ability at the moment, but gotta dream big! I'd love to make my own reel from scratch as well, and perhaps even my own line...but that's a whole 'nother process
