looks good, what size/weights do the switch rods come in? have you had a chance to get your mitts on one yet?
oh ya, nice fish.

When Beulah introduced their new Platinum Spey rods in late 2008 I was asked what I think they should do for longer and larger weight Two Handed rods..in the interim, they came out with a totally new, tough light weight Platinum Series of Single handers and now have included a complete full range of Platinum Switch rods and 2 new entries in the Two Handed Range..One a 12'4" #8 and the awesome 13'8" #8...super light and VERY powerful...if you are a fly fisher that fishes all day and demands performance then you have met your match
A beauty

I imagine that if it's anything like the 6wt platinum, it must be effortless to cast.
Hello jvander..
I have tried and fished several of the new Platinum Switch rods...there is a 10' #5,10'4"#6,10' 8" #7 and a 11' #8...these rods are lighter and faster than the Classic Beulah Switch rods...the 10'#5 is very quick opposite the original 10'6" #4/5...it might be a while before I am swayed from the classic rod,but the others are sweet, especially the 10'8" #7...I wouldn't have any problem fishing these in our waters. These shorter rods are IMO changing the way I fish Steelhead in waters that I have to drift....with the new Vision and Snowbee Running lines, Beulah Elixir and Tonic heads getting to the target is very effective. We also have a new Tube Fly system at the store that will change many fly fishers approach to Fresh Water fishing ...very well designed, simple to use, less expensive and certainly more versatile than any other I have seen...

You have that right, again,Beulah has taken the best of the attributes from the Hardy Angel (super light in hand),Loop Goran Anderson (light in hand and powerful),a bit of the Lloomis Greased line(trough action), the MacKenzie DTX(Tip Savy yet moderate flex) and mixed them all together to come up with this great rod. Although this has left me a bit perplexed ,not totally unusual for me but I have always fished the shorter rods on Island Rivers and will continue to do so,especially if I am drifting, however, this rod just is always ready to go and hard to put down...Humppphhh
