    Default two handed trout

Anybody out there using light two handers for trout?
I was thinking that a 5 or 6 would be a great thing on the Thompson.
Apparently they are getting popular on the Columbia as well.
More rods, just what I need.
I can think of quite a few spots where a two hander would come in handy.
It is great to spey with a single hander, but it is not the same as a rod designed for the job.
If I ever get it done, I wil have a 6/7 rainshadow. I think it will be great for summer fish and smaller river winter fish.

you have to be careful when choosing trout speys.. as alot of them on the market are too heavy to fully enjoy catching trout with..unless you can consistantly catch trout over 3 pounds and in our rivers around here not many around.

Do you have any experience with the small two haders eric?
I am thinking maybe we could get a bunch of rods together and try em out.
The light Sages have been getting some pretty good reviews.
    The 5 wght interests me.

    Default Lamiglas 6/7

Hello Phearless.....I still have (for sale)the Lamiglas 6/7 wt.. 12'6 trout rod from several years back...this is a new rod used in Demos only...it's their old more traditional series....very sweet..also,I have been fishing my regular 5/6/7,11'6" rod on these Island rivers and have really loved this style...landing small Steelhead to 7 LBS. and trout from 1-4 lbs...delightful and of course you always have the switch rods

the sage 5120 is an excellent trout spey..i use this rod because unlike other so called trout speys it will not over power your average trout.
any 6/7 are useless for as a trout speys, they are just too much rod for trout fishing.
the loomis metolious 5/6 is more like a 6/7
the other good trout spey is the scott 5wt ls2 but has been discontinued but you might be able to find some around... reaction had one left the other day i was there.
i think meiser has some really nice trout spey now.. like a 4 wt.

    Hey Eric,
what line are you throwing on that sage?

    Default 5/6/7

It may seem strange but I have been useing my wifes' 5/6/7 small Trout 2 hander whenever I can get my hands on it...it is absolutely delightful and too easy to cast... I have been useing the main section of the 7/8 Windcutter with various tips with ease and amazement with the fun and simplicity. Had it on the Pitt River last week and did land several Bulls in the 7LB. range with ease...also had it on the Upper Stamp ,landing trout from 1-4 lbs and a Small Summer Run Steelhead about 6 Lbs....I also have just lined it up with a Snowbee 6/7 Scandinavian Spey Floating line just for the beaches and clinics. The Hardy Mach 1 Salmon 7/8 also works very well with this rod but that line has been discontinued ..now they have the Mach 2 that is a bit too long in the belly...you have to hold a fair bit of the belly inside the rod.
there are some newly developed lines soon to try..just for these small rods..if we do a Spey Clave this Fall with Gordon and others they will be there.

i dont think there are too many spey rods that will not over power smaller trout....if u want to target smaller trout 14" and under i would stick with a 2-3wt single hander.
    i have a skagit 350 on it...also windcutter 7/8/9 but with tip 1 and 2 off.
