Went to pass lake on monday and tuesday.
Met up with tuberdude on monday, nice to meet you by the way.
Spent most of monday scouting around the lake to see where them hogs were hiding... Had three hooks ups landing only 1 nice hog of about 7-8 pounds... man are these fish hard fighters... one of them happen to wrap around the anchor and the motor before i could even react.
Tuesday the fishing was alot better as i learned a few things on monday.. had a total of 8 hookups ... but only landed one about the same size as the day before.. it was just one of those days... 4 broke me off( 7 pound tippet)because of vicious strikes or wicked runs and lost three after a long battle..
All the fish were on chronies, fishing 25 feet of leader naked.
This lake is definitly not for anyone who want to catch alot of fish and for inexperienced people. Talking some regulars there, even the best rods can get skunked.
love to swing
Yeah eric it was good to meet you too. that lake is hard to dial in on. I figured troll around for a few laps and see where the dropoffs were and also see where the fish were cruising wouldnt hurt. Once i trolled for three hours or so fighting the wind and having only one to the boat about 14 inches, i switched from full sink to my floating line and anchored. Tossed a small micro leech and not two minutes after fish on and looked to be a hog! unfortunatley a few runs and head shakes later he was off. Only managed one other small guy before i had to make my way home. For being a quality fishery, catch and release, flyfish only, i cant believe that they let gas motors on the lake. Should totally be electric only, but whatever. All in all a good day to be out on the water.
cheers, tuber
