and chum are one hell of a fight

Is there going to be a October FOTM? If there is I would like to recommend having a chum salmon FOTM. IMO I think these flies are fun to tie and great for beginner tiers. I cut my fly tying teeth on these kinds of patterns and I still enjoy putting them together.

I would think we need to alternate back to a non-coastal theme to appease those that don't live on the Coast.
i agree with john, then again, last month had a huge amount of entries compared to the august fly of the month which, if I remember correctly was a bomber. But I do see where your comming from
Why do I spend more time tying flies than catching fish?
Well this time of year is salmon steelhead time, and the spring/summer is stillwater time this is what was done this past Spring/Summer,
July - Caddis.
June - Callibaetis (Mayfly)
May - Damselfly,
April - Leech,
My thinking on this whole contest is to have the flies match to the seasons we all fish. How about this month we do combined FOTM. My thinking is a Stillwater Coho/Chum streamer fly, one you would strip in the backwaters.

I suck at tying anyway, so it doesn't matter to me.
Fly fishing is not only a method to catch fish, but a state of mind.
I like the idea Rick, I vote we run with it.
Yeah sounds like a good idea, im still tying for the swap but sounds like you could get a few entries from everyone
