I saw this on used Victoria and I'm wondering if anyone has any information regarding this rod?
Thanks
Bead Head
I think the rod might be a bit overpriced, but I can't be sure. I'm looking for some info on a 7100-3RPL which is the predecessor to the rod you posted and from what I can tell, the 7100 is worth roughly $170-210 today. If you offered $230-250 you'd probably get it.
They were good rods in their time from my understanding; a medium-fast taper which is forgiving for the "lazy" caster like myself and made from Graphite IV, which was the best at the time (I believe they're up to graphite VIII now).
If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will be more than happy to tell me so.

The Sage FLI rods were on close-out for 210-250 last year (or year before??)....brand new with a lifetime warranty . I believe most of the value in higher end rods lies in the fact the manufacturer will replace it if you break it. Not likely Sage is going to honor a warranty on a pawn shop rod. Check to see if they have a warranty card and/or reciept of original purchase (because Sage WILL know which shop it was purchased from and they WILL ask). If you decide to make an offer, lowball them. Odds are if they're trying to get 280, they paid 70, thats how pawnshops roll....
The VT2 series occupies the same niche as the RPL . I believe it was the DS2 that was replaced by the FLI, which in turn has been replaced by the FLIGHT series. The RPL's hold their value really well because they have a bit of a cult following. I have 3 of them myself, and they would have to be pryed from my cold, dead hands. Recently I aquired an unused RPL 896-4 for $220, no regrets at all.

I dont know how anal they are about it...I bought a used rod off a guy and he didn't have the warranty card anymore. I just emailed sage and and said I bought it from johnnies fly shop in fort mcwhatever, and that I didn't have a warranty card. I just emailed her the information and I was good to go.
I know it was ok because I broke the butt section that fall...had it replaced on warranty

ps. that being said, it's not really a "warranty" per se. I had to pay 70 bucks to have it done (shipping, etc) It's probably a replacement for cost, or something and not a "true" replacement warranty
The FLi's were indeed on blowout late last year and were replaced by the Flight series. I picked up another 6wt for $190 including tax for my youngest son.The Sage FLI rods were on close-out for 210-250 last year (or year before??)....brand new with a lifetime warranty . Since you seem to know a bit about the rods, what should I be offering for a 7100-3RPL, brand new with sock, tube & warranty card? I really want the rod as my beach rod but I also want to offer the gentleman a fair price. Much appreciate any advice.
