    Default Any Duncan Area Recomendations?

    Howdy...

In Duncan for a few more days and hoping to get out. Preferably beach fishing but will hit a lake or river too.

Anyone have any recommendations for anything close to town? Or should I just forget about it, jump in the car and head north?

    Thanks in advance!

Your here at a bad time for Beach fishing right now south island, but if you can make it up to Nile Creek near Parksville ( hour and a half up island )
I hear they have been getting some pinks. You could try The Cowichan River, its a little low right now but you may still be able to hook into a few in between the tubers. But I think northbound is your best bet. I'm located in Shawnigan (between Victoria and Duncan) and thats what I'll be doing here, the local lakes have been very slow with this heat so I havent been out lately on the lakes, If you have a boat Dougans Lake is a good spot to troll a leech, and I hear Quamichan is also good altho I havent had much luck personally.

If you are heading up to chemainus, Chemainus Lake and Fullers Lake have been fishing alright if you have a boat, I know a few good patterns for those lakes if you decide to head there, give me a PM if your interested in the patterns.

Actually there's a few options for beach fishing
Check the Saltwater Regs first of course, but Cherry Point will have pinks right now, Departure bay has pinks right now and once again check the regs but there will be pinks in Cowichan bay any day (theres quite a few regs for this area)
    Have fun!

i might head out there this aft to take a peak. Was there 2 days ago and conditions were pretty bad. It was too choppy to see anything plus what looked like a oil slick (smelled like crap) washing up on the beach. Don't know if that's just normal / muddy slop or more of what it smelled like.

If i see anything I'll let you know.
