chronies chronies chronies... and mayfly patterns if they are hatching..also you might get into some sedge hatch at community if the weather stays hot there as it has been for the last few days..look for fish along the shoals right beside the drop offs, or if u do not see any .. fish water that is around 20-25 feet with a muddy bottom, this is the sweet zone for bigger fish at most lakes.

personally i don't use an indicator but i am one of the few who don't use one nowadays..i prefer to feel the take then looking at the bobber go under...indicator is more like bobber fishing then fly fishing... only time an indicator is needed is if u are fishing shallow waters.
i was at roche this week and i was the only one without an indicator.

I just got back from 4 days on Community Lake about an hour ago. The fishing was brutally slow tuesday and wednesday. Long leader chironomids (25-30 ft) and very subtle takes. The last couple of days the lake really warmed (62° on the surface) and the fishing heated up. I took 10 or 11 on dark olive damsels and guys were taking lots on shallow chironies. leeches didn't produce much. The lake has plenty of 2-3 lb fish, but it is a far cry from the 30-40 fish a day lake it was 5 years ago. It was good mid week, but by last night and today there was a ton of anglers on the water. Not a big lake, and pressure is pretty steady on it. Good luck.

    Default back....

Just got back from fishing late Monday and let me say it was some of the best fishing Ive ever had the pleasure to experience, the first day we headed for badger I only hooked into a few and boated none but I had a great time watching my fishing buddy real em in one after the other the biggest being 20 inches and 3/12 lbs I'm not a real experienced fly fisherman but I'm pretty sure we landed right smack dab in the middle of a hatch. The fish were hitting everything from black bead-head sedge pupa to killer caddis and anything maroon in colour.by the time we headed back to camp it was pitch black.

The next day we headed back to badger and the difference was phenomenal, it was really slow and nothing happened for the most part of the day. But on the way in I hooked into a nice one ,a good 10 minutes of head shaking and 3 launches into the air ,My first boated fish at 21" and close to 3 lbs. Let me tell you I was on cloud 9 . It took another 10 minutes to revive the bow, and it was amazing the colors were vibrant and it was completely void of any flaws a perfect fish,I watched it slowly swim away into the darkness the became our hunting ground.

That night we decided to head out into knuff it was starting to get dark but we heard there was a hatch there the same time we were on badger and everyone was hooking into fish.I personally wasn't even out 20 yards and hadn't even started to fish and had one on my line was just dragging on the surface 10 feet or so as I kicked out into the lake. That night i hooked into 23 fish landing just 13 but they were all just 8'-14".My buddy that was on the fish the first day ,was skunked both that night and and day.But anytime we were in the camp he was feverishly tying flys trying to find the ultimate pattern.

The last day was amazing ,we spent all day on community. But you need to be down on the east end of the lake to get continous strikes. The fish there are not only the perfect color to blend into the bottom of the lake but they were smart and easily spooked we could actually see the missiles of dark trolling the bottom of the lake searching for food, big fish ,monsters some of them.On my way back in I hooked into a huge fish finally the fight was slow and steady for 10-15 minutes it didn't even surface till I brought it up but i got it boated. beautiful fish my biggest by far and i was so happy at that one moment. It was 24" and 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 lb. Then came the decision to either throw the brute stock back or take it home and enjoy my well earned catch in the end I ate the bow. When we finally got back to the shore we were greeted by a census and she kindly Informed me that this was the biggest fish that was taken outta that lake for the day and it was easily in the top 20 in the region for the month. And that just made that day all the sweeter.

It was the last night and after 3 days straight of fishing with minimal food and drink we took it easy.getting to bed early and thinking that perhaps before we headed out we might good out for one last venture, but we didn't

I don't think I mentioned that this was the first time I ever fly fished, and it was the perfect beginning to a long and passionate affair.I learned how to cast out 40 feet or so,and also tell tale signs of which patterns to use. All in all I think I'll make it a tradition to hit those three lakes every year.

    cheers and good fishing
