FishFinder, Proffessori and I did a trip to Leighton yesterday. Fishing was good at times, but you had to find the right chironomid pattern. Fish were down approx. 15 feet. I managed to pick up one fish on a leech.

I'm heading to Leighton this weekend and was wondering what I should try chironimid wise. Right now I'm armed with #16-#8 chromies, blacks, greens, and ice cream cones in the same colours.

It'll be my first time on the lake. Is there a side which is better depth and feature wise? I can only tell so much from FishWizard and it looks as though the East side where one drives up looks decent. Is that an underwater island/shoal smack dab in the middle of the main body of the lake?

Eric. If you're interested in going this weekend PM me and maybe we can meet up.

ps. Is it faster to take the 97c from Merritt or to take the Logan Lake/Lac Le Jeune exit of #5?

I take the merrit 97c way an most people i know take that route as well.
Would love to go this weekend but i work weekends so i can fish weekdays, plus it's a long weekend coming up and it will be a zoo there . Perhaps we can hook up some other time. Leighton can be really fast fishing once u dial in on the right depth. This time of the year i concentrate between 5-10 foot depths. You have the right sizes and colors in chronies and shouldn't have too much trouble hooking a few.

    good luck
