I've thought about this a fair bit, and been scratching the back of mind for a larger saltwater issue to troll with. Got my curiosity up that's for sure. I once saw in Alaska (and wish I bought some) super long & thin gummy minnow needle fish if I could have switched them to a tube I would have paid mint for them. They looked PERFECT!

Well I had the day off and it was raining so I sat down at the bench and gave it whirl. After several not so successful attempts of my own creation I finally found a pattern I liked and could tie. It's a flatwing needlefish pattern variant that the guys over in Washington make.
The basic recipe I used is white synthetic bucktail followed by pink, green, purple krystal flash followed by some fire orange and blue mirror flash. After that I top it with an olive grizzle saddle hackle laid flat, followed by 3 peacock hurl topped with black synthetic bucktail. The head has some mirror flash wrapped around the olive thread and then after the eyes the whole thing is epoxied. All on a saltwater mustad #4.
    Here it is:

Anybody else in? Haven't heard much on this one in awhile.
