On a recent trip to Sunny Southern Alberta and Calgary I actually had a chance to really experience the Bow River Breeze! This experience really re-inforced the understanding of the need to have the tool for the job...sort of! What became almost immediately apparent was the need to have a rod with good depth in action like the Snowbee Torridge(12' - 6/7wt) or rods similar in action. The Beulah Platinum rods are without doubt some of the sweetest rods I have cast and fished...but once the winds do come up need to have more dense line set-ups to punch through that wind...having shooting lines set-up can really make the difference in your outings.
On my first evening on the Bow when I managed to get a bit of time to actually fish I did get into several nice bows using various Nymphs...the second evening I managed to attract a large Brown on a swung Salt Water minnow pattern...The second evening was very windy so I did use the Beulah Tonic head making the fishing much more efficient and rewarding.
Just some interesting observations about other areas and situations we don't get to fish that often..
