Default Roche Lake, may 4-6 2007

Myself and markinhope, just got back from our yearly trip the to Roche Lake yesterday. As usual we had a great time, lots of beers :drunk: and lots of fish! We stayed at Roche lake Resort, great lodging, great food and even watched the Canucks loose in their lounge! When we got there, the lake was just finishing turning, water was a little murky. It was very cold on the water and windy the entire time. It was hard to stay anchored, the wind blew us all over the place, was a little frustrating but we managed to persevere. We even woke up to snow on the ground Saturday morning, burrrrr and it snowed several time throughout the trip. Fishing was good despite the hurdles, we caught lots of trout in the 12 to 22 inches range but no real brutes, mind you we saw some nice biggies caught. We missed the weather by a couple of days. This week will the time to be at Roche, temperatures are going to be over 20 and the bug's should be hatching at will. Stone is up there today for the next three days, my guess is he will smack them!

You guys guys were headed back down as we were heading up, Rick. The weather remained unsettled the time we were up there, with one day seeing gusts of 90 km/h coming from Kamloops! Weather sucked the big one, but fishing was good when the weather cooperated.

Here's my buddy Dennis with his biggest...I got one slightly smaller but it had more colour while his was chrome. Awesome fish...

    Cheers.

I'd second that! Wow! Dennis must have had some sore arms after hauling that one in.

Wow Stone... I didn't see you added to this one. I was at Roche last Friday evening and caught a couple minnows. It was crazy busy though, and I had to move on. It looked like a nascar race there were so many trailers on the hill. I think word spread around that whales like that one were being dummied. Nice Job.

Thanks guys...just got back tonight from another couple of days up there. Weather was lousy, and fishing was tough...but we got into another bunch of good ones. Nothing pushing double digits this time though...

Hatches were sporadic and there was a bunch of different ones sometimes. There were a number of traveller sedges skittering across the water, but rarely any takers. A few mayflies were coming off, and there were a few blue damsels and dragons buzzing about. Some large black bombers were also occasionally seen, but the majority of the fish I pumped had bright bloodworms in their gullet...go figure.

    Tight lines!

Dennis with his biggest one of the trip...that he landed, anyway.
