    I've seen them in all sorts of shapes and colours and sizes. Can be a damsel but not necessarily or exclusively.

    They can work somewhat like an attractor fly and may or may not need to emulate anything much, yet the action imparted by stripping it in as in the case of some jigs initiates solid takes.

    The original design over 20 years ago was to imitate nymphs in the early stage when they started to float up a few inches swim back down to the bottom. They have since morphed to imitate any number of different things.
