Default Rod selection on the Dean River

...am a relative novice as far as fly fishing is concerned...am heading up to the Dean River in mid June and am hoping some of you could give me some advice as to the weight of rod used on the lower dean in targeting springs. i've been encouraged to take up a two handed spey rod (which i don't have) but I'm also hoping I could take up my 9 weight...but I'm unsure if it would have enought back bone. any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.
    straight cheers.

    Hi Wanda.
Single handed 9 weight is fine.
    Have fun!

I think you may be under gunned a little for Dean springs. Ive heard Brian Niska from Whistler Flyfishing has been up there lots (never been there myself). He could probably help you figure out what you need.

I haven't been up but my buddy has been up there and he was using a nine weight.
Here's a cool link on the Dean.
