I'm trying to get a 'spruce grouse, and a red ruffled grouse'..if any of you come across either one of these 'dead' or shot, would it be to much to ask to send me the skins?.........AW
Hey Aw I have 14 small ziplock bags full of spruce grouse feathers from hunting last year. I would be more than happy to share them. I would also pick your brain as to what patterns you use them for and which feathers. I've only tied up a couple weird streamers with them so far. here's one.

it's all fun and games untill someone looses a fish
sorry for not responding to this thread....yep...it would be "soft hackle" , I'd be making...sure do hope some of ur buddies shoot some so I can get a skin.......AW
Hey AW you don't want them getting into trouble shooting grouse out of season now! LOL
Anyway it sounds like someone can share what they have. Not sure about doing that in Ab as I don't know how their Wildlife Act reads, but in BC you have to cover yourself by getting a letter from the person saying he is supplying a grouse legally taken in fiscal year xxx at or near such and such a location and signed by him. Same thing goes for hides from wildlife in BC. Sending it out of BC you are also exporting it...safest is to phone a Conservation Officer and ask if you would need an export permit to send a grouse, deer hair or etc. from BC to AB and vice versa for AB residents.
sorry for not coming to this site and responding to posts...have been helping my Lady with her business, which the recession finally did a number ..anyways, Nebc, things sure has change in BC in the last 8 years, either that or I was blind to the rules.Hey AW you don't want them getting into trouble shooting grouse out of season now! Looks like I'll wait till I get over to see if any skins are available.........thanks anyway ....AW
If you don't want to wait until after Sept 10th in BC or Sept 17th in AB just go to your local flyshop and buy a skin which is much better quality than buying loose feathers in a bag.
I've checked over here John and the price is out in left field..eg: $35.00 for a 'hun' skin..pffffffft! Besides no one here brings in that grouse..while I'm in BC..going to talk with an old buddy of mine on the island, think he might have several...........say...well I've got you..I tried to read a post in the sister site of this one and was 'refused' entrance...do I need certain amount of posts in there to see/read in the private section?
