    Default Mexico fishing report

Normally I would tease everyone...weather here is in the low 60 degree range, fishing has been good but I must say I really miss my Steelhead fishing.
was out the other day casting at King Fish and Barracuda...landed a Barracuda about 40 inches long and several Kings about the same...along the flats we have targeted Bones but the weather has been very poor for these fish, waves, clouds and low temperatures...ideal for Salmon and Steelhead but not tropics fishing.
Belize has the better fishing options IMO especially if you are after Bone fish and Permit.....Mexico has many Bone Fish flats...we are fishing the island of Cozemel next week with apparently great bone fishing off the north tip of the Island....
    back soon

Sounds like fun. Hope you and Val are enjoying your vacation. See you back here soon.
Fly fishing is not only a method to catch fish, but a state of mind.

Thanks you all...you know of all the fly fishing I have done down here I am liking targeting Barracuda and King Fish on the cast fly...these fish move about very quickly and when they are in your area look out...I had One Barracuda take my fly from a King fish off a coral reef the other day...then a larger Barracuda almost made a meal of the smaller fish...when I finally got the fish in ...well lets say that is now gone as food...the entire back end of the fish was tron wide open....serious preditors...
The best flies were some I tied with 6" long Polar Bear hair in White/Chartreuse topped with the new DNA Holo Fushion fibre in a BAitFish colour....these flies are "ON"underwater...best I have ever seen...simple to tie and very effective...will use these as well this summer for Chinook off the Kelp Beds and Coho(smaller sizes).
The finished heads were made of Tuffleye over large 3/16" holo eyes....the eyes could have been larger for these fish down here!
One week left and then back home...
Happy New Year to you all

    Hello Again,

I can hardly wait to try some of that Island fly fishing. Maybe even with the Spey. And if you can post how to tie those flies you are mentioning, or even a phpto of the one you are using, I will really consider you a friend. I can't wait to try Chinook on the fly.
Thank you for a nice report and

    HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW 2010
