Fishery Notice - Fisheries and Oceans Canada

Subject: FN0848-Recreational: Salmon: Region 1 - Correction to FN0846 - Opening Date - Cowichan River Chum and Coho opportunity - Salmon Daily limits

Effective 00:01 hours November 16, 2009 to 23:59 hours December 31, 2009 in
Cowichan River, downstream of Skutz Falls to the Highway No. 1 Bridge (Silver
Bridge), the daily limit:

- for coho salmon(over 25cm) either hatchery marked or wild will be one (1) per
day,
- for chum salmon will be two (2) per day.

Notes:
Anglers are further reminded of the following:
- The use of single barbless hooks is mandatory in all streams in Region 1;
- All foul hooked (ie: hooked other than in the mouth) must be returned to the
river immediately;
- The use of bait is prohibited in this area (as per the 2009–2011 Freshwater
Fishing Regulations Synopsis);
- The Marie Canyon Closure remains in effect until December 15, 2009 (as per
the 2009–2011 Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis);

further restrictions and information when fishing in the non-tidal waters of
